By Lodha
May 14, 2025Lodha has taken a significant step toward decarbonizing real estate by setting ambitious, science-backed targets. In FY24, it became the first real estate company in India to have its long-term and net-zero goals validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), ensuring alignment with the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement. This validation underscores Lodha’s commitment to credible, measurable climate action and reinforces the role of real estate in achieving net-zero emissions.
The company has set clear milestones: reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 97.9% by FY2028 and cutting Scope 3 emissions by 51.6% per square meter by FY2030. By FY2050, Lodha aims to achieve net zero across all scopes. Meeting these goals will require a multi-faceted approach, including deep energy efficiency measures, on-site renewable energy generation, and the transition to low-carbon construction materials.
Beyond technological advancements, Lodha’s roadmap emphasizes systemic change through industry collaboration, workforce skilling, and policy engagement. By aligning business growth with climate action, Lodha is not only reducing its environmental impact but also setting a precedent for the entire real estate sector. This roadmap serves as a guiding framework for developers looking to integrate sustainability at scale while balancing economic and environmental priorities.
