Explore No 1 Grosvenor Square - A Restored Global Landmark by lodha

No.1 Grosvenor Square has stood at the centre of Mayfair since 1731, when Sir Richard Grosvenor laid the foundations of Grosvenor Square. Home to the British aristocracy for centuries, it later became a seat of global diplomacy, the only building to have served both as the US Embassy and the Canadian High Commission.

For the first time since 1936, this address returned to private ownership, restored and reimagined by Lodha.

Legacy Restored

Alongside Eric Parry Architects, the historic neo-Georgian façade was dismantled and rebuilt brick by brick. Original stone blocks were carefully removed, catalogued and reinstated with subtle refinements to meet modern structural and environmental standards.

Ceiling heights now exceed three metres across all floors, introducing gracious internal proportions while preserving the architectural language of the original building. The restoration was exacting in its detail and ambitious in its vision, ensuring the landmark will endure for generations.

Private World Within Mayfair

Behind its historic façade lies a private residential world shaped around discretion and ease. Residences are defined by elegant proportions and a refined material palette - Italian marble surfaces, bespoke walnut doors, timber flooring with custom detailing. The interiors crafted by Yabu Pushelberg are confident and composed, allowing craftsmanship to speak quietly.

The address includes a 25-metre swimming pool with vitality pool, spa and treatment rooms, a private gym and dedicated yoga and ballet studio. Residents have access to a Board Room, Library, Screening Room and Club - spaces that support both business and social life within the building itself.

A covered drop-off, 24-hour concierge and valet service ensure seamless arrival and departure. Security operates discreetly, preserving privacy without intruding on the experience of home.

A Global Landmark

No.1 Grosvenor Square occupies a singular position in London’s architectural and diplomatic history. Its return to private residential life marks a defining moment for Mayfair. It demonstrates Lodha’s commitment to design, craftsmanship and cultural stewardship.

The address now stands restored - rooted in history, engineered for longevity, and recognised among the world’s most desirable.
