Lodha introduces India’s first LC3 concrete road at Palava

In a landmark move that signals the future of sustainable construction in India, Lodha has unveiled the country’s first concrete road built using LC3 cement i.e. Limestone Calcined Clay Cement, at Palava. This pioneering initiative marks a new chapter in sustainability in concrete infrastructure, with LC3 delivering up to 40% lower carbon emissions than traditional cement.

LC3 is one of the most sustainable building materials currently available that was born from over a decade of scientific research, and now recognized under Indian Standard IS 18189:2023. With this deployment, Lodha becomes the first real estate developer in India to implement this environmentally friendly construction material at scale.

Crafted through a collaboration with IIT Delhi, JK Cement, Sika, and the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), the LC3 road at Palava demonstrates the potential of sustainable materials used in construction to transform urban living. More than just an innovation in materials, it reflects a deeper shift: towards sustainable developments that are durable, responsible, and future-ready.

This initiative aligns with Lodha’s ongoing commitment to environmentally sustainable building materials and sets a precedent for the adoption of eco-friendly sustainable building products across real estate and infrastructure. By replacing a portion of clinker with calcined clay and limestone, LC3 reduces CO₂ emissions significantly, making it one of the most environmentally friendly building materials.

As developers, we believe that beauty and responsibility must go hand-in-hand. By introducing LC3 cement in infrastructure, we are creating more than just roads; we are laying the foundation for low-carbon, high-performance urban futures. With every step, we are redefining what sustainable materials in architecture and construction can achieve.
