The Spectacular Spaces series is an ode to the extraordinary homes in our developments, crafted by India’s leading designers. In the second episode of this series, we explore how designers Zubin and Suleiman of Design Matrix have infused personality and uniqueness into the studio apartment at Lodha Altamount.
Lodha Altamount’s Studio Apartment: More Than Just a Home
In today’s day and age, a home is more than just a space you live in; it’s multifunctional. Zubin and Suleiman, with the team at Lodha, have created the studio apartment in Mumbai at Lodha Altamount to optimise a home and use it to its full potential. The space has been designed to function as a work-from-home office and a haven where residents can unwind. Promising privacy, the apartment is a space where residents can socialise, entertain and foster relationships without getting disturbed or disturbing anyone else. While floor-to-ceiling windows envelop the apartment in glorious views of the sea, they also fill the space with natural light, enhancing the overall living experience.
Zubin and Suleiman have fashioned the studio apartment at this residential project in Mumbai after a New York loft, bringing together elements from two great metropolises under one roof. With glazed windows giving the space a sense of openness, the floorplan of the space mimics the same and does away with unnecessary walls or dividers to capture the true essence of a loft. While nooks, crannies and corners serve different functions, one can view the entire apartment in a single glance. The designer duo also strategically use smart, space-saving furniture to help maximise the open floorplan to the point where the apartment’s size seems marvellous.
Although nestled in a bustling city full of high-rises, Zubin, Suleiman, and the team stepped away from doubling down on the industrial aesthetic and deviated from using concrete tones. To counterbalance the hard shell of the apartment, a stark white, the designer duo opted for dark wood panelling to infuse warmth and pops of vibrant colour to breathe life into the space. From an elegant study area that overlooks the terrace lush with greenery to the pool table, the apartment is more than a standard home. A harmonious mix of minimalistic furniture, modern hardware, blustering lighting and a variety of textures, the apartment is eclectic at its best. With artwork, plenty of room, absolutely nothing cluttering the space, and masterful use of light, the studio apartment at Lodha Altamount is a space where one could live a luxurious life.
The designer duo emphasises personalising the apartment to meet the residents’ preferences and requirements gradually, in an organic manner. Intentionally designed, the studio apartment at Lodha Altamount is the result of a collaborative effort that harnesses the best of everyone involved and the space. What could be more spectacular
